January 2016: UH Architectures student Alejandra Cervantes won a design award from the Texas chapter of the American Institute of Architects for her UHCC project that was completed in the class run by Patrick Peters.
Heavy rains leading up to the planned “Going Coastal” event made the prairie too wet for many of the planned activities, so we had to cancel. We’ll invite the public to explore the UHCC at another time.
We held our second annual UHCC users meeting on February 25, 2015. The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to exchange information about our research, education and service activities at the UHCC, and to discuss plans and opportunities for the future.
Native American Seed didn’t harvest seed from our prairies this fall. The seed production wasn’t spectacular this year and the timing didn’t quite work out.

The Native American Seed company harvested our main prairie in late November and early December with a combine to collect prairie seed. Native prairie seed is sold for large restoration projects and to individual homeowners who want native plants in their yards.
